Cleanliness is an essential factor for the well-being of passengers at the station and, thus the attractiveness of the public transport mode rail. It is also confirmed by customer surveys in which ÖBB stations regularly receive top marks for cleanliness.
In figures, the spring cleaning looks like this:

As every year, the basic cleaning of the stations also includes the removal of winter dirt: dirt, gravel and dust. In addition, any graffiti on stations and noise barriers is elaborately removed by ÖBB's nearly 500 cleaning specialists. Spring is also the perfect time to clean the clocks at the stations and the numerous information boards. In ongoing cleaning, we are continuously becoming more environmentally friendly. Four out of five cleaning agents, such as glass cleaner or even wipe care, are already ecologically certified.
After the winter is before the winter - more than just spring cleaning
In the west, the last snow is just melting. In the course of the ÖBB spring cleaning, many winter service devices are therefore also cleaned, and winter systems are maintained, which makes the railroad fit for winter. Afterwards, they are stored until the next winter and are thus ready for the next operation.
The winter maintenance equipment includes snow blowers and snow blowers. They are transferred to ÖBB's workshops for inspection and maintenance so that they will be as operational again next winter as they were this year.
Winter equipment includes protective structures such as avalanche barriers. In the coming months, they will be inspected from the ground and the air so that repair work can be carried out if necessary.
The preparatory work for the next winter has thus already begun at ÖBB today so that tomorrow - next winter - passengers will reach their destination quickly and safely.
