The rail supplies will be used to implement standard gauge in several sections of the Mediterranean Corridor, in actions of the Cercanías de València, Santander, Asturias and Transformem Rodalies plans, and to renew several conventional railroad lines. The rail supply will be used to advance the installation of standard gauge on sections of the Mediterranean Corridor that pass through Valencia and Catalonia, promoting actions in different commuter rail hubs, such as the duplication of the Astillero-Orejo section of the Santander Commuter Rail, the renovation of the Colloto-Infiesto section of the Asturias Commuter Rail Plan, or the Pobla Llarga-Silla and Silla-Cullera sections of the Valencia Commuter Rail Plan. Another part of this rail supply will be used to guarantee the progress in the construction of the new La Sagrera station in Barcelona, as well as the Mérida bypass of the high-speed line to Extremadura. The rail supplies will also boost the renewal of the track on conventional railroad lines such as the Zafra-Huelva, the Huesca-Canfranc, the Ciudad Real-Badajoz or the Arahal-Marchena (Seville). These actions contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 9, which promotes sustainable, reliable, and quality infrastructures.
