Adif Alta Velocidad has announced an investment of EUR 34 million to enhance and reinforce the protection of the platform on the Eastern high-speed rail axis.
This project aims to install protective elements along tracks adjacent to the railway platform and on overpasses to prevent vehicle intrusion or falls onto the infrastructure, thereby minimizing risk areas that could impact railway operations and passenger services.

The improvement works will be coordinated from maintenance bases in Villarrubia, Gabaldón, Requena, and Monforte del Cid. These measures include the installation of metal and concrete barriers, the erection of fences, the placement of new access gates, and new directional panel signage to help identify potential risks at critical points. Complementary actions involve vegetation clearing in areas designated for safety barriers, relocation of access gates and fences, and anti-theft protections for external metal connection barriers.
