LTG Infra tender for €6.6 million was awarded to AB Eurovia Lietuva. It is to build roads on the new Rail Baltica rail section Šveicarija-Žeimiai in Jonava district, Lithuania.

The contract includes 16 new local access roads in a total of 20.3 km alongside the future railway, that are being built for the property owners around the track so they will be able to access their land once the railway is finished.

"Today marks another important step in the Rail Baltica project - the first contract was signed. So, the actual construction of a completely new railway line towards the Latvian border will start soon," says Karolis Sankovski, Chief Executive Officer of LTG Infra.

The access roads are not the only part of the contract that has a deadline within a maximum of 420 days from the start of work. Eurovia also needs to build 2 service roads, slip roads, install surface sewage networks, reconstruct drainage structures, and connect a pumping station.

More tenders are on the way. The tender for the railway bridge over the river Neris in Jonava District should be finished soon by signing the contract with the winner. There is also a tender launched for the installation of a new railway crossing and civil engineering structures on the sections Šveicarija-Žeimiai and Žeimiai- Šėta. And more tenders will launch in the future.
