CRRC's Qingdao Sifang facility in Qingdao, Shandong Province unveiled the first 600 km / h magnetic suspension train. The prototype of this train was first shown in May 2019.

The train is built using Chinese technology. Suspension and guidance systems, a special traction converter and other basic components have been developed for it. CRRC notes the low noise level and high smoothness of the new train, its large capacity, as well as the reduction in maintenance costs compared to wheel-rail trains.

The high-speed magnetically levitated train is intended to occupy a niche between traditional trains designed for a speed of 350 km / h and air transport (800 - 900 km / h). It is expected that a magnetic suspension train will be able to take passengers from Beijing to Shanghai (approximately 1,300 km) in 2.5 hours, while traditional high-speed trains cover this distance in 5.5 hours, and a plane flight, combined with waiting in airport takes 4.5 hours.

Currently, China is exploring the possibility of building high-speed magnetic suspension lines Shanghai - Hangzhou (about 180 km long) and Chengdu - Chongqing (400 km).
