Only women are allowed to enter Mexico City's first metro wagons to eliminate sexual harassment, kidnappings, and murders of women, which are a daily occurrence in the capital of Mexico.
Yellow arrows stuck on the ground indicate the direction of the subway. However, they later led to pink stickers, which do not indicate the direction but the gender. "Vagones exlusivos, lunes a domingo en todo horario" is written in large white letters on a dark pink background, which means "Exclusive wagons, always from Monday to Sunday." Next to the inscription are placed pictograms of a woman and children, with the additional inscription up to 12 years old. A total of three wagons are reserved for women and children.

Even though the introduction of exclusive wagons has reduced the number of cases of sexual harassment by 26%, however, insufficient checks at stations are still the problem. The idea of separate wagons based on gender met with great popularity among the locals. Mexican women feel safer in the metro thanks to the exclusive wagons. On the other hand, for many, this measure is a reflection of the sad state of Mexican society, where gender equality is not respected, and sexual violence is a common part of life.
