In two weeks, nearly six hundred people from Poland and Slovakia signed their support for the idea of connecting the two countries with a new railway. The petition for the construction of high-speed railways Rail Orava on the section Kraľovany - Kraków with the connection of Slovakia to the Polish project Podłęże - Piekiełko from 30 July 2022 is organized by Civic Initiative Poland - Slovakia - Buses.
"Poland has been building a completely new railway line with modern standards, known as the Podłęże - Piekiełko project, in difficult mountain terrain for several years. This investment aims to significantly shorten the train journey from Krakow to the Polish Tatra Mountains and Nowy Sącz. Trains will be able to travel at speeds of 120 to 160 kilometers per hour," said Jakub Loginow, a Pole who initiated the petition.

The Poles are open to extending the project to Slovakia so that the railway line does not end blindly in Zakopane but also includes the Slovak Orava region and, from there, it would be possible to travel to Bratislava, Poprad, Košice, or anywhere in Slovakia. The Polish Podłęże-Piekiełko project is being built in stages, and so far, it is in such a state that Slovakia can join it.
"In Poland, too, this line has been talked about for a long time. Many said it was expensive and that it was not possible. And suddenly, it can be done," said Kuba Lubinow. You can find more information here.
