Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ) stays optimistic despite the invasion. On their website, they write that after Ukraine wins this conflict the UZ plans to go ahead and purchase the electric train to improve Ukraine’s transportation.
Now the tender that started in October last year is canceled. 30 suburban electric trains, 30 suburban AC trains, and 20 regional AC trains are part of the contract. The amount estimated for these is UAH 34.462 billion (€1.07 bill).
So far, the railways have been a massive help to Ukraine. Almost two million evacuated from hotspots and hundreds of thousands of tons of humanitarian aid were delivered.
