The railways in Tyrol have received a stylish upgrade with the arrival of the first Cityjet Desiro ML train set. From October, passengers traveling between Innsbruck and Kufstein can expect a smoother and more comfortable commute as these modern trains take to the tracks.

The launch is just the beginning, with more routes, such as Landeck to Innsbruck and eventually, the Wörgl to Salzburg route by 2024, set to get the Desiro ML experience. Before the trains officially set off, preparations are in full swing. From rigorous training sessions for ÖBB staff to getting drivers familiar with the new vehicles, everything is geared towards ensuring a seamless passenger experience.

The Desiro ML isn't new to the tracks. Since 2015, this Siemens-made vehicle has been setting standards in train travel. And the version coming to Tyrol is all about blending capacity with luxury. It boasts around 290 seats, spread across its 100-meter length. Passengers can look forward to features like ergonomic comfort seats, automatic climate control, and power sockets. But it's not just the interiors that stand out. The train's exterior, showcasing red mountains against a white backdrop, beautifully reflects the Tyrolean landscape. A touch that adds a sense of regional pride to every journey, as Werner Dilitz from ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG highlights.

Local officials share the excitement. René Zumtobel, Tyrol's Mobility Provincial Councilor, expressed his enthusiasm about the new additions, emphasizing their importance in meeting the growing demand for public transport in the region. Likewise, Alexander Jug of VVT eagerly anticipates the enhanced travel experience the Desiro ML Cityjets are set to offer their passengers. With the latest trains, Tyrol's commitment to elevating its public transport system is evident.
