Through hand-painted illustrations, the book presents the historical periods of transport development in the Slovak High Tatras region.

From the first steam trains, pioneering systems, and means of transport that were typical of transport in the past, to the modern trams and cable cars of today. The authors are enthusiasts with an interest in transportation, history, drawing, and graphics. One of them is originally from this beautiful area, and the other has been involved with them since childhood. All this and many more facts motivated them to create an illustrated book about the historical development of transport in the High Tatras. This book will appeal to readers of all ages. After the initial ideas, the authors decided to give the book the form of an interesting illustrated atlas with a popular-educational style. In creating the content, they drew on available literature and also on their own archival sources. The book is also interesting because it contains several historical points of interest that have not been published before.

The creation of the text and the graphic realization of the book took approximately two and a half years. Time-consuming was especially the handmade illustrations with a lot of technical details. Depending on the complexity of the motif, it took dozens of working hours to paint a single picture. The paintings in the book are supplemented by explanatory descriptions. They depict historical and contemporary means of transport against the background of well-known or lesser-known localities of the Tatra nature and amazing architecture. For the hand-made paintings in the Illustrated Guide to Transport in the Tatras to capture the actual subject matter as faithfully as possible, it often requires extensive and detailed research of historical photographs that precede the actual painting of the picture. The book will be: printed 71 pages, in 20x25cm format, have a soft cover, high-quality matt paper, and 76 hand-painted illustrations. Those interested can look forward to it before Christmas.
