Alstom sends the first four-wagon IINNOVIA 300 train for an automated monorail to Cairo, Derby, UK. In 2019, the Egyptian National Tunnel Administration (NAT) and a consortium of Bombardier, Orascom Construction, and Arab Contractors signed a 2.7-billion-euro contract to develop, build, operate and maintain two monorail lines in Cairo over 30 years. The contract also provides for the delivery of 70 trains with four Innovia 300 wagons. Following the acquisition of Bombardier, Alstom is the successor to its contract. A € 2.5 billion loan from JP Morgan for the project provided a € 1.7 billion guarantee to the UK government.

One of the 54 km monorail lines will connect the new administrative center (New Administrative City) with the eastern part of Cairo, the second 42 km long - Giza and the city from them. Both lines are due to open in 2023. Trains running on 80 km / h overpasses will be able to carry up to 45,000 passengers per hour in each direction. The Bombardier CITYFLO 650 Radio Traffic Control System (CBTC) will provide high reliability, operational flexibility, short train intervals, and low operating costs.
