Stadler KISS, which stands for "Komfortabler Innovative Spurtstarker S-Bahn Zug" (Comfortable Innovative Commuter Train), is a double-decker electric train unit developed for suburban and regional transport. It is a modular concept that can be adapted to different needs and operating conditions.
It is a double-decker train with high, scalable seating capacity. The rigid aluminum body makes it lightweight and energy-efficient while resisting deformation. It is designed as a regional train with double doors to ensure fast passenger movement when boarding and alighting. The train can be designed to travel at a maximum speed of 160 km/h. Sets can have from 2 to 8 cars and can be built in standard or extended gauge. Depending on the interior layout, up to 1,000 passengers can be carried.
The Stadler KISS is equipped with advanced technologies and features that ensure comfort and efficiency for passengers and operators. Its interior offers a modern and spacious design with comfortable seats, ample space for luggage, and facilities for disabled persons. The train is equipped with air conditioning and modern information systems providing passengers with accurate information about the route, stops, and connections.
In terms of performance and speed, the Stadler KISS is equipped with a powerful electric drive and an advanced control system that allows high speeds and ensures a smooth and safe ride. The train's power unit can provide a short-term (several minutes) "sprint" power of over 6,000 kilowatts, allowing it to overtake other trains on short sections.
