Stadler is gearing up to present its KISS double-decker multiple unit, built for ÖBB Personenverkehr AG, at InnoTrans 2024.
RAILTARGET has previously reported on Stadler's various innovations planned for InnoTrans, including the KISS double-decker. So far, 79 of these trains have been ordered as part of a larger contract for 186 units. The KISS trains come in different versions, including four- and six-car units for local travel, six-car units for long distances, and a five-car version for the CAT airport train. These trains will soon join ÖBB’s Cityjet and Railjet fleets, offering passengers a more modern and environmentally friendly way to travel.

At InnoTrans, visitors will be able to see the inside of the new Cityjet. The train is equipped with comfortable seats, automatic air conditioning, power outlets at every seat, free Wi-Fi, and real-time information screens. Accessibility is also a key feature, with low-floor entrances and flexible storage areas near the doors, including spaces designed for wheelchair users.

The four-car Cityjet trains are about 105 meters long and can carry 373 passengers, while the six-car versions are 160 meters long and can hold up to 593 passengers. With a top speed of 160 km/h and strong power output, these trains will be a major part of ÖBB’s fleet, combining efficiency with passenger comfort.
