The Škoda Group has recently secured a pivotal contract to produce ten bi-directional trams for the city of Bergamo in Italy. This project is part of a more extensive contract that involves the complete construction of the city's second tram line, T2, stretching from the city center to the northwestern area.

Financed by Italy's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), the contract signifies a notable investment in sustainable urban transport, showcasing trams explicitly designed for the new line.

Jan Harder, President of Region West at the Škoda Group, celebrated the company's success in the Italian market, praising its commitment to excellence and adaptability. "The opening of our office in Florence last October allowed us to better understand the Italian market and adapt our solutions to its specific requirements," said Harder. "This underlines the Škoda Group's commitment to providing sustainable and efficient transport solutions that contribute to the overall benefit of the population."

In addition to cementing its position in the global tram manufacturing sector, the Škoda Group is showcasing several innovative features in the Bergamo trams. Among the highlights is an advanced anti-collision system, a first for the company, demonstrating Škoda's commitment to improving passenger and pedestrian safety. The trams also come with accessibility enhancements for passengers with reduced mobility, an ergonomically designed driver's seat, real-time remote diagnostics, and air-conditioned cabins, all of which set a new standard in urban transport.
