Siemens Mobility has obtained an unprecedented order from Indian Railways for 1,200 locomotives with 9,000 horsepower (HP), marking the largest single order in the company's history and a milestone for Siemens India.
Siemens CEO Roland Busch expressed pride in supporting India's sustainable transformation of its transportation sector as the country aims to nearly double its rail freight capacity. The new locomotives will significantly contribute to the development of the world's largest green rail network and reduce CO2 emissions by over 800 million tons throughout their lifecycle.
