PKP Intercity is expecting to surpass the record of the 2019 figures as more people are expected to continue travelling by rail in Poland.
The latest forecasts show that the company may end 2022 with more than 50 million passengers carried. Until the end of August, PKP Intercity had transported more than 38.6 million passengers, exceeding the total number of passengers carried in the whole of last year, which was just under 35.7 million. The increase in demand for rail travel has continued, even as the summer holidays ended, with the number of passengers remaining significantly higher than last year.

PKP Intercity's CEO, Marek Chraniuk, stated that the increasing number of passengers is motivating the company to continue developing its services. He also forecasts a record number of passengers carried by the end of 2022. Additionally, Tomasz Gontarz, Member of the Board of PKP Intercity, said that the company is planning to introduce a new promotion to their passengers, providing them with a chance to start a new chapter in their lives.
