The private passenger operator FlixTrain, which has competed with the state-owned Deutsche Bahn (DB) for long-distance passenger rail services since 2018, announced an increase in the number of locomotive-hauled trains serving all six of its routes in Germany. The number of seats available to passengers will increase by 20-50%.
FlixTrain is part of FlixMobility, which is also a leading long-distance bus operator in Germany and other European countries.
FlixTrain currently operates up to eight train runs daily on each of six routes in Germany: Hamburg - Cologne, Hamburg - Berlin - Leipzig, Hamburg - Berlin - Munich, Munich - Frankfurt am Main, Berlin - Stuttgart, and Berlin - Cologne - Aachen.
FlixTrain uses modernized passenger coaches with completely redesigned interiors and new bathrooms. They are equipped with modern armchairs with electrical outlets and free internet access via the onboard WiFi network. Passengers are guaranteed a seat at no extra charge.
