The Polish railway network is witnessing a significant enhancement with the introduction of new tracks between Goczałkowice and Czechowice-Dziedzice, streamlining the journeys from Katowice to Czechowice, Bielsko-Biała, and Zywiec. The transformation, part of a PLN 1.4 billion investment by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. at the Czechowice interchange, is co-funded by the EU's CEF Connecting Europe Facility. Commuters are already benefiting from a reduced travel time of approximately 20 minutes on these routes.

The investment contributes to a more efficient and safer travel experience on the route from Katowice to Zebrzydowice and the Beskidy Mountains, with new platforms in Zabrzeg, a safe under-track crossing, and a new bridge over the Vistula between Goczałkowice and Czechowice. The project also includes upgrading 47 km of track and 56 km of network, 119 switches, and 12 engineering structures, aligning with the requirements of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).
