The ÖBB Nightjet train was launched in 2016 and replaced some local nightline services after DB (Deutsche Bahn) announced that night trains would be discontinued. Since then, Nightjet has served passengers in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland and Switzerland. Travellers can choose a seated car, a comfort couchette or a sleeping car, all with an enhanced level of comfort that will ensure deep, uninterrupted sleep and allow them to arrive well-rested right where they want to be.
The Nightjet's sleeping cars can be booked as single, double or triple standard compartments and offer their passengers:
- Personal washbasin in each compartment
- Beds with fresh bedsheets
- Welcome package
- Comprehensive breakfast
- Power socket
Deluxe compartments are available as single or double compartments and also include:
- Personal bathroom with washbasin, shower and toilet
- Shower gel and hand towels
Passengers can choose breakfast earlier in the evening from the menu provided in each compartment, after which it will be served in their compartment the following morning.
This new Nightjet compartment was introduced in Switzerland for the first time. The ÖBB is thus celebrating their partner's milestone date and looks forward to another 175 years of cooperation in the future.
