Passengers can now order food for their train journey in more than 30 cities across Russia. The Federal Passenger Company, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, continues to develop its food delivery service to trains. Since the beginning of the year, the service has become available in more than 10 Russian cities, including Mineralnye Vody, Nizhny Novgorod, Smolensk, Kazan, Sochi, Penza, Cheboksary, Omsk, Rostov-on-Don, Anapa and Novorossiysk.
As a result, 55 catering enterprises from 34 cities are now part of the service, which is available at both train departure stations and at transit stops. The service is most popular in Moscow, where it accounts for almost a third of orders, but it also enjoys great demand in Tyumen, Yekaterinburg, Yaroslavl, Novosibirsk, St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod.
Passengers most often order pizza, but traditional regional dishes are also highly popular.
Passengers can place their order when purchasing their electronic tickets on the Russian Railways website or the RZD Passengers mobile app in the "Personal Account" section, as well as in the "Ticketing Services" section if they have previously purchased their ticket.
The service Food Delivery to the Train was launched in December 2019. Initially, it was available only at the St. Petersburg and Kursk railway stations in Moscow. The service’s coverage will continue to expand on other long-distance train routes and the list of cafes and restaurants will also increase as they become part of the service.
At present, the Federal Passenger Company is actively looking for new partners among public catering enterprises in all cities and towns across Russia where the company’s trains run.
