Deutsche Bahn and SNCF are collaborating to provide a new direct route from Frankfurt/Main to Bordeaux during the summer.

Running from July 8 to August 26, 2023, a TGV Duplex will transport passengers to the French Atlantic coast and back every Saturday. The train departs Frankfurt/Main Central Station at 6:56 a.m., arriving in Bordeaux at 2:35 p.m., while the return journey leaves Bordeaux at 3:58 p.m., reaching Frankfurt at 11:51 p.m. The travel time is 7 hours 40 minutes to Bordeaux and just under eight hours in the opposite direction.

Tickets for the new connection, with prices starting at €69.90, will be available for booking through all DB sales channels beginning in February. This service marks the first long-distance connection from Germany to Bordeaux in 20 years, since a car train operated between Berlin, Düsseldorf, and the Atlantic coast in 2003.

Stefanie Berk, Head of Marketing at DB Fernverkehr, highlights the increased demand in cross-border long-distance traffic, particularly with France, after the COVID-19 downturn. The Bordeaux connection is part of their efforts to draw more passengers to eco-friendly rail travel, offering a transfer-free journey for summer vacations. The new route builds upon the direct connection between Frankfurt/Main and Marseille, established in 2012.
