According to Russian media and Telegram channels, the train driver could not brake in time before the KamAZ unexpectedly drove onto the tracks in front of the train on the Kazan - Adler route. The governor of the Volgograd region, Andrey Bocharov, noted that three people are in serious condition among the hospitalized. According to BFM's Telegram channel, there are currently no fatalities among the 812 passengers involved in the major collision.
The truck driver sustained head and leg injuries. His vehicle was destroyed, and the lead train carriage was crushed by the impact.
"339 people have been placed in temporary accommodation points in the Kotelniki district, where they are receiving all necessary assistance. 30 people are undergoing thorough medical examinations. Out of these 30, three are in serious condition. At present, all those who sought help, including children, are receiving the necessary medical care. In the ten remaining carriages, we are conducting a wagon-by-wagon inspection, speaking with each passenger. Our task is to inform them about our actions shortly and clarify their position and opinion on whether they will continue their journey or wish to return home. Based on their stance, we will make a final decision," said Bocharov.
The causes of the collision are currently being investigated. However, preliminary data indicates that the truck driver grossly violated traffic rules and, ignoring a working signal, drove onto the railway crossing in front of the oncoming train.
