ÖBB has announced the introduction of seasonal Nightjet services to the Italian Adriatic coast, with a direct connection to Ancona.

The new service will offer a climate-friendly overnight travel option for holidaymakers visiting the popular resorts of Rimini, Riccione, and Cattolica. The seasonal service will operate from Vienna and Munich from 10 June to 9 September 2023. Passengers will be able to travel in comfort on board the Nightjet trains, with sleeper and couchette cars providing a welcome drink and breakfast before arrival.

Due to construction work in Italy, the connection from Bologna via Florence to Rome will not be available between 10 June and 9 September 2023. Travellers to Rome and Florence can use the Trenitalia service from Bologna during this time. Austria is a popular travel destination for Italians, with ÖBB already offering daily Nightjet connections to Venice, Genoa, and La Spezia.

ÖBB's Nightjet service offers environmentally friendly and comfortable travel, with passengers arriving in the destination's centre early in the morning, saving time and additional hotel costs. Tickets for the Nightjet connections start from €28.80 per person and direction in the seating car, €48.10 in the couchette car, and €67.30 in the sleeper car. Passengers can book tickets at ÖBB travel centres, online at the ÖBB ticket shop, via the ÖBB app, or by calling the ÖBB customer service.

For passengers seeking maximum privacy, ÖBB offers the option to book compartments in the three comfort categories as separate (private) compartments, allowing passengers to travel alone or with family and friends in a compartment without having to share it with other passengers.
