Deutsche Bahn's Südostbayernbahn "Idea Train" made its debut at InnoTrans, the world's largest railway technology trade fair in Berlin.
The Idea Train is a joint project of the Bayerische Eisenbahngesellschaft, the DB subsidiary Südostbayernbahn (SOB), and the design office Neomind. It is designed to provide a glimpse into the future of travel with four modules tailored to the different needs of passengers. These include an office module for working, a regulars' table module for get-togethers, a family module for relaxation, and the New Sitting module with ergonomic seating.

Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter expressed his pleasure that Bavaria's passengers will soon be able to experience the idea train in daily operation after funding its development with around €1.5 million. The idea train will run on one of the busiest local transport routes in Bavaria, between Mühldorf am Inn and Munich, starting daily service on March 3, 2023.
Evelyn Palla, Director of Regional Transport at Deutsche Bahn AG, expressed her excitement about the upcoming debut of the Idea Train in Bavaria, highlighting the train's special features, such as swivel chairs for more privacy and live information on the train's capacity on displays. She hopes that the train's comfort and quality will convince more people to switch from cars to climate-friendly local public transport.

Thomas Prechtl, spokesman for the management of Bavarian Railway Company, discussed the importance of the Ideenzug project, which he believes is a strong team effort.
