One of the provides of a high-speed train transporting, TGV will from now on facing a tough competition - Italian Trenitalia SpA. One of the main reasons for the increasing tension between TGV and Trenitalia is due to Trenitalia's presence in French territory - more specifically the Lyon-Paris line which is the busiest route of all France. TGV's growing competition such as Trenitalia and Spanish Renfe might be solved by the new luxury class provided by SNCF.
The luxury class - Business Première will offer passengers a 1st class experience aimed towards people from the Railway industry compared to Trenitalia which offers 4 types of classes. Apart from the affordable price of EU 142 SNCF offers total control of time scheduling, free rescheduling, refreshments, lounge availability, and getting car transport with a driver already waiting at your destination.
17 sets of trains that feature this brand new service are prepared to be launched this December but it is expected that TGV will try to keep up by testing TGV M (Avelia Horizon) on The Paris-Lyon line. If successful, the plan is to offer their services that would involve multiple lines.
For passengers that don´t mind longer duration time will launch a cheaper, slower connection next year called the Ouigo Vitesse Classique.
