Alstom unveiled the Prima M4 KZ4AT, the first fully assembled passenger locomotive in Kazakhstan after twenty units of this series assembled in France between 2014 and 2016. The locomotive was delivered to the Kazakhstan Railways, KTZ, and will be able to operate. at a speed of 200 km / h.

The locomotive is based on the Alstom Prima modular platform and can operate in the temperature range from minus 50 to plus 50 degrees. The supply of KZ4AT locomotives is part of a contract signed in 2010 with KTZ for the supply and maintenance of 302 Prima T8 KZ8A passenger locomotives and 119 Prima M4 KZ4AT passenger locomotives for KTZ.

The new Prima M4 KZ4AT locomotive is the result of a technology transfer, supported by Alstom's European production centers, to the Kazakh joint venture Alstom EKZ plant located in Nur-Sultan.
