Slovakia Travel and ZSSK can be proud of the award. The Summer Trains Campaign has been awarded the BEST EUROPEAN TRAIN TOURIST CAMPAIGN 2022. It has contributed greatly to the already declining rail transport. Thanks to the campaign, a record 43 thousand passengers on ten lines used the Summer Trains.
By comparison, in 2021, nearly 42,000 passengers traveled on the Summer Trains, compared to 23,000 in 2020. Summer trains have been operating since 2020.
This year's summer trains were ordered by the Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic (MoT SR) in cooperation with Slovakia Travel, the national tourism organization of Slovakia, as well as higher territorial units (VÚC). There were ten lines across the whole of Slovakia.

To make matters worse, Slovakia Travel is also trying to boost train travel during the autumn. It promotes the Montenegrin railway or steam locomotives.

"We are always excited and very proud when we manage to get people on the train who would otherwise not even think of this mode of transport. Of course, a large part of the credit goes to our shareholder, the Ministry of Transport, with whom our ideas find support," added ZSSK CEO Roman Koreň.
The great thing is that in 2023, there will also be an extension of the summer train offer to a year-round offer of tourist trains during non-working days and during the winter and summer tourist season on some lines, where trains will be run at regular intervals on Saturdays, Sundays and also during holidays they will run daily.
