As summer approaches, Deutsche Bahn is once again expanding its range of services for journeys to tourist destinations in all directions. The railway company is offering additional connections to the north, the East Frisian coast, Copenhagen, and new train services between Berlin or Dresden and the Baltic coast to Rügen, Rostock and Warnemünde. DB is also increasing journeys to Warsaw and introducing a new connection from Frankfurt (Main) to Bordeaux.

Furthermore, DB Fernverkehr will be heading south on Saturdays with a Sprinter from Berlin to Garmisch from the end of May. In summer, there will also be direct services to the Black Forest and the Lake Constance region.

DB Fernverkehr's Head of Marketing, Stefanie Berk, highlights that environmentally friendly travel by train is part of the company's brand essence. Berk also notes that more holidaymakers are switching to rail travel, and the railway company has been able to convince even more environmentally conscious travellers with bikes of their offer.

The combination of bikes and trains is becoming more popular than ever before. In 2022, the number of bicycles transported on DB's long-distance services alone increased significantly to a record 570,000 bicycles. Compared to 2019, the number of bicycles transported in long-distance traffic grew by 45 per cent.

The demand for bicycle parking spaces on DB's long-distance trains rose by around twelve per cent in 2022 within Germany, and by more than 40 per cent on international long-distance services. To meet the increasing demand, DB is expanding its bike transport service. The new ICE 3neo with eight parking spaces per train will make it possible to take bicycles on high-speed services at speeds of up to 300 km/h from December 2022. The ICE L, which will enable passengers to board long-distance trains without steps, will be available from the autumn of 2024.

DB is offering more rail for all at the world's largest tourism trade fair, ITB, from 7 to 9 March 2023. DB will be showcasing the future of travel, including Interrail offers and "Destination Nature." DB Connect, a provider of mobility management solutions, will present Call a Bike, one of the largest bike-sharing providers in Germany. Passengers can book the bike ticket together with the parking space reservation via or the DB Navigator app. From summer 2023, the bike ticket and the associated parking space reservation can also be booked separately and without a personal ticket.

DB recommends reserving a bicycle parking space early to avoid disappointment, especially during the summer months. Passengers can find out whether parking spaces are available on and in the DB Navigator app. The bike ticket can be booked together with the parking space reservation via or the DB Navigator app.
