The chocolate is made from ethically sourced ingredients and wrapped in FSC-certified paper. Each chocolate sold will finance a meal at the food banks in Germany, making a positive impact on social sustainability and resource conservation. share's 1+1 principle means that for every chocolate sold, a donation is made to support food banks in Germany, with the total support amounting to €500,000 per year. The favourite guest chocolate will support 10 million meals annually, with the logistical effort for donated food costing about 5 €-cent per 500g of food. Sustainability is a key focus for DB's onboard catering, and share's favourite guest chocolate is a welcome addition.
share's favourite guest chocolate is not only delicious, but it also supports the work of the food banks in Germany. Iris Braun, the co-founder of share, said that the company is delighted to have Deutsche Bahn as a partner and that something social is achieved by travelling by train. With share's 1+1 principle, every chocolate sold contributes to the cause. DB's Marketing Director, Stefanie Berk, echoed Braun's sentiments, noting that rail travel is an active form of climate protection and that the company's commitment to sustainability can be seen in its increasingly environmentally friendly onboard catering products. The favourite guest chocolate is the second share product that Deutsche Bahn will offer, following the success of share mineral water, which supports well-construction projects. Sustainability is a key focus for DB's onboard catering, which serves vegan, vegetarian, and organic products, and meals with meat substitutes. DB also donates food to food banks in Germany, serves only Fairtrade-certified coffee, and has planted over 385,000 trees through its support of the Bergwaldprojekt association.
