Rail transport in Poland is paralyzed, and a hacker attack may be behind it all. Before 4 a.m. today, control equipment in 19 local control centers responsible for controlling rail traffic on the Polish rail network malfunctioned. This was announced by the railway infrastructure operator in Poland, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe.
The fault affected a total of 820 km of railway lines in Poland. Due to this, train schedules are being changed, trains are running late, and many trains are canceled. Alternative bus services are being introduced in many places. Today, Polish railways representatives are advising passengers to consider giving up traveling. Passengers who have purchased tickets can apply for a refund.
At a specially called conference, PKP PLK representatives stated that all the systems that failed were from the manufacturer Alstom.
