PKP Intercity has introduced a new train service called IC Koziołek, bolstering connectivity between Lublin and Poznań. Starting in September, this will be the third direct link between the capitals of the Lubelskie and Wielkopolskie regions, significantly improving transportation options for residents.

IC Koziołek will make daily runs, departing Lublin at 8:30 a.m. and arriving in Poznań at 2:50 p.m., with stops in several other cities including Łódź and Radom. The train will operate with a FLIRT electric multiple unit manufactured by Stadler Polska.

Traffic adjustments in September will cause a slight increase in travel time for IC Koziołek, but authorities anticipate it will remain a popular option. Tomasz Gontarz, Vice-President of the Management Board of PKP Intercity, lauded the new service as a major step for the often-neglected Lublin region. "It's about time Lublin received the attention it deserves. The area is rich in both culture and opportunity, and we hope that more connections like this will spur its further development," Gontarz stated.

This initiative aligns with PKP Intercity's ongoing efforts to combat "transport exclusion" by expanding its network and modernizing its fleet. According to Michał Moskal, Head of the Political Cabinet of the Vice-President of the Council of Ministers, "This move exemplifies how the national carrier is increasing transport accessibility across Poland." With over 400 centers now served by PKP Intercity, compared to 296 in 2015, plans are in place to continue expanding service and enhancing passenger experience.
