Alstom, in partnership with the Government of Quebec and industry leaders, has achieved a remarkable milestone by conducting the first-ever hydrogen train journey in North America. The Coradia iLint, a cutting-edge hydrogen-powered train, carried a hundred passengers on a 90-kilometer trip through Quebec's picturesque Charlevoix Biosphere Reserve. Powered by green hydrogen produced by Harnois Énergies, this groundbreaking achievement demonstrates Quebec's commitment to a low-carbon economy and sets the stage for the development of a hydrogen propulsion ecosystem in the region.

The province of Quebec will become the first jurisdiction in North America to operate a train with zero direct emissions, further solidifying its leadership in sustainable transportation. Alstom, accompanied by the Hydrogen Research Institute of the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, will analyze the results of this demonstration project to advance hydrogen technology and its adoption in the North American market. This achievement highlights Alstom's dedication to decarbonizing mobility and providing innovative solutions that benefit passengers, operators, and the environment.

With its hydrogen fuel cell technology, the Coradia iLint emits only water vapor, ensuring a quieter and cleaner travel experience while maintaining excellent performance comparable to traditional diesel trains. Alstom's successful launch of the Coradia iLint in Quebec reinforces its commitment to sustainable mobility and showcases the potential of hydrogen propulsion in the region. By collaborating with local partners and establishing a green hydrogen ecosystem, Alstom is driving the growth of clean mobility and revolutionizing the rail industry in North America.
