Following the successful start of construction at the three train stations Mauerkirchen, Mattighofen and Munderfing at the beginning of May, major and concentrated reconstruction work is now beginning to complete the traffic stations on schedule by 2023. ÖBB construction teams will work day and night during the line closure from July 2 to September 11 to be able to complete construction measures that are important for traffic - also with large construction machines - as quickly as possible for the population and to limit inconveniences.

The ÖBB teams are also working intensively on the technical upgrading or abandonment of railroad crossings, which will mean an improvement in the safety of traffic along the Mattigtalbahn in the future. Fully automatically secured crossings can then be controlled in a modern way via an electronic interlocking.

From July 2 to September 11, a rail replacement service with buses will be set up between Braunau am Inn and Friedburg or Neumarkt am Wallersee due to track closures. Anyone travelling here should find out about changing departure times and locations before starting their journey: oebb.at, SCOTTY mobil App or by phone (05-1717).

Advantages for rail travellers after the reconstruction

  • Barrier-free boarding due to new central platform (level increase)
  • Better passenger information through monitors with current departures/arrivals and a public address system
  • Covered waiting berths offer protection from bad weather
  • New track and switch systems increase passenger comfort
  • Fully automatic barriers at railroad crossings - controlled by modern electronic interlockings - contribute to greater traffic safety.
