ÖBB reports over 11,000 trains cleaned in 2021

ÖBB boasted about their last year's successful cleaning processes, including cleaning trains and the stations. The company managed to complete 11,000 main cleanings and 1.3 million smaller cleaning processes on the trains and simultaneously cleaned 2.8 million square meters of floor and 80 kilometers of handrails cleaned in roughly 1,000 train stations. ÖBB also obtained a special hygiene certificate from TÜV Austria for cleaning trains.

ÖBB used more than 33,000 liters of surface disinfectant and almost 11,000 liters of ecologically certified cleaning agents to cleanse the stations.

Every single day over 1000 employees worked on the trains, buses, and stations to guarantee perfect conditions for travelers.

Understandably, the company follows scientific studies that show that the risk of infection with COVID-19 is no higher in public transport than in other areas of public life.

In addition to the cleaning services, wearing the FFP2 masks is also mandatory for commuters since the air in trains and buses circulates within the AC system.

For example, the air in 'OBB Regiojet' gets changed eleven times every hour.
