The first ÖBB Nightjet connection between Vienna - Munich - Paris got launched on December 13. The NJ 468 successfully departed from Vienna Central Station at 7:40 p.m. The departure got attended by Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler, French Transport Minister Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, and the ÖBB CEO Andreas Matthä.
SNCF, DB, in cooperation with ÖBB, will run their Nightjet trains three times a week - every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. There is a direct connection from Vienna Central Station via St. Pölten, Linz, Salzburg, and Munich to Strasbourg and Paris Gare de l'Est. Departing from Vienna is at 7:40 p.m., arrival in Paris the next day at 9:42 a.m. The connection from Paris to Vienna gets offered every Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday. This direct connection also revives the history of the Orient Express, which got suspended back in 2007. Thanks to this project, passengers will have a chance to return to Paris in a sustainable, eco-friendly way that guarantees safety.
In addition to the Zurich-Amsterdam link, which got launched a day prior (on December 12), it is the first-night rail line that the European railway companies ÖBB, DB, SNCF, and SBB agreed upon at the end of 2020. The agreement got signed to reflect their desire to develop further contributions to expanding the European night train network.
The ÖBB Nightjet features single seats available for bookings in the seating car, couchette car, or sleeping car. All options are available until further notice.
These alternatives offer the highest levels of privacy since the compartments in the three comfort categories can also be booked as separate (private) compartments.
