Webuild has completed construction operations for the third and last of the steel-arc railway bridges in the Naples-Cancello section of the Naples-Bari railway with high speed/capacity.

Each bridge weighs 2,500 tons, is approximately 80 meters long and 21 meters high. They are built with the help of an engineering solution that minimizes the impact on traffic, avoiding the main arteries of local roads.

The final bridge was assembled on a specially built front field together with the existing road network. It was lifted about 6 meters above street level with the help of lifting towers and jacks and then moved to its final position with 18 trailers, which distributed the weight on 104 axles of the wheels. It took about 10 hours.

As part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) initiative, the Naples-Bari high-speed rail line has been commissioned by the Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (FS Italiane Group) to improve sustainability and high-speed transport in southern Italy. Once completed, it will reduce travel time by almost half between Naples and Bari, bringing northern and southern Italy closer together.

The line consists of 11 sections, of which Webuild builds four. These include the Naples-Cancello and Apice-Hirpinia sections, which are currently under construction and providing employment for approximately 2,400 people in 400 Italian companies. The Naples-Cancello section is 15.5 km long, with three artificial tunnels and four viaducts, while the Apice-Hirpinia section is 18 km long with three tunnels and four viaducts.

In the future, Webuild will start construction on the 28-kilometer section Hirpinia-Orsara, which has a 27-kilometer tunnel, and the 11.8-kilometer section Orsara-Bovino, which has a tunnel slightly smaller than 10 km.
