The third stage of the expansion of the PKP Intercity Remtrak branch in Idzikowice has just been completed. The event was accompanied by a visit by, among others, Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland Mateusz Morawicki and Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Adamczyk. After completing the investment of PLN 135 million, the Remtrak plant becomes the carrier's leading technical base. After modernization and reaching maximum processing capacity, up to 400 new employees will find employment.

During the visit, the Prime Minister recalled that until recently the company had generated losses and was destined for liquidation, and now the third phase of branch expansion is being completed and new people are being employed. – ''Remtrak is an article of the polish deal (Polski Ład pol. is Poland's new development plan for a period of a gradual return to normal after the end of the pandemic) and the polish deal will strengthen transport potential and serve passengers'' - said Prime Minister Morawiecki.

The third stage of the expansion of the branch included, among other things, the construction of two repair halls within one complex. There will be repairs of wheelsets, chassis of wagons and locomotives, passenger cars to P5 levels, and electric locomotives to P4 levels.

These investments are expected to increase the company's independence from external entities, in particular in the case of wheelset repairs. This will enable fast, flexible, and cost-effective responses to current fleet need. This will be directly reflected in more efficient passenger services. The extension will also reduce the cost of repairing cars and locomotives by carrying out most component repairs separately.

PKP Intercity Remtrak is part of PKP Intercity Capital Group. The number of orders Remtrak makes for the national carrier is systematically increasing. In 2016, there were 366 and in 2020 the company completed 817 orders. The company ended last year with a net profit of PLN 12,68 million. After the completion of the expansion of the workshop, the headquarters of the company, which is under the leadership of Remtrak CEO Krzysztof Wiktorowicz, was moved to Idzikowice.
