SŽDC (Railway Transportation Administration Body) has announced a tender for the modernization of the route connecting Pardubice and Hradec Králové. Specifically, the modernization should relate to a section from Pardubice-Rosice nad Labem to Stéblová.

As part of this reconstruction, a second track is to be built, and a double-track bridge over the river Elbe should also be built. The costs of the project should climb to EUR 98.57 million. The modernization should be completed in 2023.

This project is a smooth continuation of the reconstruction of the Pardubice main railway station. The reconstructed section will be 7.5 kilometers long. The original bridge over the river Elbe will also be replaced by more modern construction. The existing one has only one track, the new one will have two tracks.

Further modernization will take place at the Pardubice-Rosice nad Labem railway station. The line sections will also be adapted to two tracks. A new station platform will be created, as well as a pedestrian underpass, which will provide a connection between the outer and island platforms.

As part of this project, another railway station will be reconstructed, namely Pardubice-Semtín, near to the place of birth of legendary SEMTEX. Two new platforms will be built here, as well as a shelter. The existing level crossing should be replaced by a pedestrian underpass. As part of the modernization, in Stéblová station another completely new stop will be created.

Hradec Králové is a very important railway junction for inland traffic in the Czech Republic. It has a key location for connections from the west (Germany, Prague), the north (Poland, Náchod, Liberec), the east (Slovakia, Letohrad), and the south (Austria, Pardubice, Brno). The railway lines in the Pardubice and Hradec Králové regions are comprehensively modernized and billions of crowns are invested in their modernization. Thanks to these investments with EU programs contribution, it will be possible to increase the speed of passing trains and, as a result, the speed of both passenger and freight transport in general.
