Yesterday there was the long-awaited CONFERENCE ŽESNAD, which was also held this year in the pleasant environment of Spindleruv Mlyn. The interest in it was huge, the registered number of participants exceeded two hundred people. The conference was held at the real peaks of the Správa železnic sector. For example, The Minister of Transport Karel Havlíček, Member and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Railway Administration Martin Kolovratník, Director General of the Správa železnic Jiří Svoboda, ČD Chief Ivan Bednárik and ČD Cargo Chief Tomáš Tóth were not missing.

The largest railway conference in the Czech Republic this year had to be moved three times due to the pandemic situation. Yet the number of participants was literally record-breaking. The ŽESNAD conference took place on the date of the largest European railway fair this year, TRAKO 2021, in Gdansk, Poland. Many conference participants went directly from Poland to the ŽESNAD conference and shortened their participation at the fair by a day. This just underlines the enormous importance of this meeting.

At the conference, the debaters mainly addressed issues related to railway safety. The lack of state support for rail has also been addressed, with the main objective of shifting freight transport from road to rail. Issues of railway capacity and other infrastructure plans were also addressed. The next ŽESNAD conference will take place on May 26, 2022 in Spindleruv Mlyn. Our editorial staff is preparing a series of interviews from the ŽESNAD conference, which you can already look forward to.
