In the rapidly evolving world of rail tendencies, countless factors need to be addressed to make rail an attractive mode of transport for consumers. At InnoTrans, the rail sector's most prominent event of 2022, Ampetronic, a UK-based company developing solutions for the hearing impaired, announced its ambitions to compete for the right to contribute to the largest rail projects in Europe. Rob Bartlam, Support Team Lead and Transport Specialist spoke with us about the specifics of the company's developments.

Could you introduce your company and what is so special about it?

We are Ampetronic, the world leader in manufacturing induction loop systems. Induction loop systems are made for the hearing impaired to receive an intelligible audio signal. In public, there's quite often some background noise or acoustical distortions that might cause a problem., and we produce the technology that resolves that for those with hearing difficulties.

And in which countries can we find your product?

We are active in pretty much every country worldwide. We have a very large distribution network in about forty-two countries. The biggest markets tend to be the US, the EU and Australasia.

Could you describe how your product works?

We essentially create a magnetic field which is induced upon a telecoil inside the hearing aid. The idea is when we are delivering that magnetic field, when we are inducing that signal upon the hearing aid, we are doing so free from any background noise or acoustical distortions, anything that might be inherent in a vehicle or in an environment that might be heavily used by people.

Is there any special event you're looking forward to?

Yes. At the moment, we are involved in lots of opportunities and projects that require loops onboard of rolling stock. The largest one that we are currently looking forward to integrating our solution on is HS2 in the UK. Hopefully, we will win the opportunity and be integrated into, essentially, the largest rail projects in Europe at the moment.
