There is no doubt that the 7th IRFC Conference is the most important railway event of the Czech EU Presidency. It will bring together Europe's top rail leaders to discuss trends or challenges in the sector. And the fourth session will be dedicated to high-speed rail.

European rail transport is facing an important event. Prague will host the International Rail Forum and Conference (IRFC) from 5-7 October, with several leading speakers from the Czech and international scenes. The conference is thematically divided into five sections. In previous articles we informed you about the content of the first and third sections - you can find them here and here. The first three sessions will thus focus on interoperability, railways in the post-Covid era, and research and innovation.

The RAILTARGET editorial team now presents you with exclusive information about the fourth section of IRFC 2022! The topic will be none other than high-speed rail and will take place on the afternoon of the second day of the conference. The moderator of the whole session will be Jiří Svoboda, Director General of the Railway Administration. And who will contribute to the debate on VRT? Presentations will be made by the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic, French railways SNCF, Austrian ÖBB, and the business model of high-speed transport in Japan will be explained by a guest from East Japan Railway Company.

There will also be a panel discussion with members of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament, a Member of the European Parliament, and the governor of one of the regions involved. They will be joined by Poland's Centralny Port Komunikacyjny.

You will have the chance to learn more details about VRT, such as when it will be possible to travel in comparable times between the metropolises of Central and Eastern Europe and Western Europe, how VRT will affect the capacity of current lines, and whether it will free up capacity for rail freight, or VRT will help relieve roads from endless truck convoys. This year's IRFC conference is going to be extremely eventful, and we cannot wait to provide you with all the further details.
