The tracks lead to Gdańsk: today marks the first day of TRAKO 2025, where rail innovation, milestones and bold ideas take centre stage.
From 23 to 26 September, Gdańsk becomes the railway heart of Europe as TRAKO 2025 — the region’s largest rail industry exhibition — welcomes more than 600 exhibitors from 30 countries. Attendance is expected to match the record-breaking edition of 2023, when over 23,000 visitors attended. Delegations will arrive not only from across Europe but also from Japan, China, and Thailand, according to organisers, who expect possible record participation this year.
Once again, RAILTARGET is a media partner of the fair. From its professional studio in Gdańsk, the editorial team will bring exclusive interviews, reports, and video coverage with leading figures of the rail sector.
TRAKO 2025 Features Debates and Anniversaries
Organised by PKP Group and AMBEREXPO Gdańsk International Fair, the event covers 31,000 m² of exhibition space with an extensive outdoor display. The programme will feature over 70 specialist events, from debates and panel discussions to presentations of technological innovations. The fair will open with a debate titled Competitiveness and Financing of Railways in the EU, focusing on European funding, decarbonisation, and Poland’s role in supporting Ukraine’s reconstruction.
Another highlight will be the panel The Passenger Comes First, organised by national operator PKP, which will address passenger needs, service quality, and accessibility. Organisers stress that passengers should remain at the core of the modern railway. TRAKO 2025 also marks the first event to celebrate two important anniversaries: the 200th anniversary of the world’s first railway (Stockton–Darlington, UK) and the 100th anniversary of Polish State Railways (PKP). Special accompanying programmes will be held for both milestones.

Innovation and Special Programmes at TRAKO 2025
Technological premieres are another draw. On 23 September at 13:15, a new electric vehicle for urban and suburban transport will be officially unveiled and handed over to PKP. Visitors will also see the 300th IMPULS electric unit produced by NEWAG SA. Special zones add further attractions. In the PGE Energetyka Kolejowa Zone, participants can test a train driving simulator and take part in an eco-driving competition. Visitors can also enjoy a draisine race, organised with technology partner Plasser & Theurer.
Education and Career Day
The final day of TRAKO 2025 will once again focus on youth and education. The fifth edition of Education and Career Day will welcome students from Poland and abroad, offering them insight into career opportunities in the railway sector. The day will also host the finale of the charitable TRAKO for Children campaign, while the public will gain access to outdoor displays.
