COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference, is organized in collaboration with the Italian government to unite the world to minimize climate change.
The conference, which started on October 31 in Glasgow, will last until November 12.
Among attendees, you will hear from quintessential people solving the climate change issues, such as USA Special Envoy on Climate John Kerry and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
This year's conference will emphasize the importance of the Declaration on Zero Emission Shipping by 2050.
Countries are requested to come forward with ambitious 2030 emissions reductions targets that align with reaching net zero by the middle of the century. Now, you have a unique possibility to attend this conference virtually through their website and Youtube channel.
To reach these goals, uniting countries will need to:
- expedite the phase-out of coal
- reduce deforestation
- speed up the transition to electric vehicles
- support investment in renewables.
- protect and restore ecosystems
- build defenses, warning systems, and resilient infrastructure and agriculture to avoid loss of homes, livelihoods, and even lives
- finalize the Paris Rulebook (the detailed rules that make the Paris Agreement operational)
- speed up action to tackle the climate crisis through collaboration between governments, businesses, and civil society.
