The Munich fair, dedicated to logistics, mobility, IT, and supply chain management, served as the backdrop for the official unveiling. During the ceremony, Siemens Mobility presented a blueprint of the French-market Vectron locomotive, which will be manufactured at the company’s Allach facility in Munich. The unit represents a milestone as the first Vectron locomotive tailored for France. Maintenance services will be provided by Siemens Mobility, with initial deliveries expected by the end of 2026 and full homologation for France by 2027.

Alpha Trains Secures Vectrons for French Market
The contract includes 35 locomotives, with an option for an additional 35 units. The symbolic blueprint handover was made by Siemens Mobility Vice President Steffen Bobsien, and received by Fernando Pérez, CEO of Alpha Trains Group. Both executives highlighted the efficient communication and swift finalisation of the agreement. The event concluded with a ceremonial plaque signed by company officials and employees.

This development follows Alpha Trains’ earlier announcement in July 2024 of a larger contract for 70 Vectron locomotives, which also marked the first inclusion of French-spec units in their fleet. Since 2016, Alpha Trains has acquired 82 Vectrons in total, of which 62 have already been delivered.
CARGOUNIT Expands Fleet with 22 Additional Vectrons
Meanwhile, CARGOUNIT—Poland’s leading locomotive lessor—signed a deal to acquire 22 more Vectron locomotives from Siemens Mobility at their own exhibition stand. This purchase brings the company's contracted Siemens fleet to 106 Vectron and Smartron units, with future expansion projected to reach 150 locomotives.
Alongside Bobsien, CARGOUNIT CEO Łukasz Boroń also attended the signing ceremony. "The purchase of multi-system Vectron locomotives will further strengthen CARGOUNIT’s market position in full-service locomotive leasing," said Boroń. "With intermodal and passenger transport growing across Central and Southern Europe, the Vectron MS meets our clients’ evolving needs."
