For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, the DB Museum Halle (Saale) is once again celebrating its traditional summer festival on Saturday, 26 August 2023. This year, children and families will be the focus of the festival programme. Little railway fans can look forward to a varied programme with magic shows, puppet theatre, hands-on activities and lots of locomotives to marvel at and touch. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the historic locomotive shed IV, home to the DB Museum Halle (Saale), will be transformed into a railway adventure world for young and old.
Museum director Dr Oliver Götze says, "Our summer festival is one of the highlights in the calendar of events at the DB Museum in Halle (Saale). Thanks to the support of many volunteers, we can not only offer an exciting programme for children and families in 2023 but will also present many of our vehicles on the turntable. A highlight for all railway fans."

A colourful programme for the whole family
This year's summer festival has many attractions for children and families. Puppeteer Sebastian Günther will enchant children from the age of four with three performances of the play "Die verflüxte Zipfelmitze". Sebastian Günther has already performed at several puppet festivals and will be a guest at the DB Museum Halle (Saale) for the first time at the 2023 Summer Festival. In the outdoor area, magician Handoni will light up children's eyes with his magic tricks. Clown lady Filotta and her team will model creative balloon figures in the locomotive shed, let giant soap bubbles float over the open-air site and turn children into funny animal shapes. In addition, a ride-on train will make its rounds in the open air, and the museum's volunteers will offer guided tours of the engine shed. The LGB model railway will be in operation, and food and drink will also be provided – with sausage rolls, goulash canon, cakes and an ice cream stall from the "Eisburg".
