This week, RAILTARGET's editorial team had the opportunity to take part in the 30th-anniversary cruise on the Elbe River from Königstein to Dresden, organised by Sächsische Binnenhäfen Oberelbe and Hafen Hamburg Marketing. Prominent political and business representatives from Saxony, Hamburg and the Czech Republic were on board.
The annual Elbe cruises have been organised by Sächsische Binnenhäfen Oberelbe and Hafen Hamburg Marketing with their partners in the logistics of the Elbe waterway since the mid-1990s. On the ship, discussions were held on current challenges, especially in maritime logistics and inland transport. The most resonant topics were the impact of climate change, the shift of global supply chains and the shortage of skilled workers, which hide opportunities and risks. Representatives of the logistics companies involved said several times that they were pleased with the high reliability of transports from Saxony and the Czech Republic to the Hamburg metropolitan region.

After the short lectures, the guests had the opportunity to discuss all the current topics that resonate with the shipping industry. Among the guests were also representatives of the railways, whose interest was mainly directed towards improving cooperation between ships and railways and finding solutions to the problems that plague both transport sectors.
