From Battery Trains to High-Speed Rail: Rail Business Days 2026 Opens Tomorrow

Rail professionals, technology suppliers, operators and transport policymakers will gather in Ostrava this week as Rail Business Days 2026 opens its doors. The three-day event is expected to showcase the latest developments in rolling stock, infrastructure, digitalisation and sustainable mobility, while providing a platform for discussions on the future of the railway sector in Central Europe and beyond.

The international railway exhibition will take place from 9–11 June 2026 at the Trojhalí Karolina complex in Ostrava. Visitors will be able to explore exhibitions across Halls 1 and 2 as well as outdoor display areas. The event will feature both indoor and outdoor exhibits, including an extensive display of railway vehicles spread across 825 metres of track.

Exhibition grounds will be open daily from 09:00 to 18:00, with the final day, Thursday 11 June, operating until 15:00. In total, exhibitors will occupy approximately 5,400 m² of indoor exhibition space and 900 m² of outdoor areas, highlighting technologies and services covering the full railway value chain.

Conference Programme Focuses on the Future of Rail

Alongside the exhibition, Rail Business Days will host a conference programme aimed at railway professionals, industry representatives and public-sector stakeholders.

On 9 June, a dedicated conference session will examine some of the most significant issues facing the Czech and European railway sectors. Opening presentations will address the current state of rail transport in the Czech Republic before moving on to discussions about future development priorities.

Among the key topics will be major infrastructure projects planned through 2030, the development of high-speed rail networks, and the growing role of battery-powered trains in regional transport. Speakers will also discuss the future of passenger and freight rail, including fleet modernisation, service improvements and the technologies expected to shape the industry's next phase of growth.

Digitalisation, Automation and Security Take Centre Stage

As railways across Europe continue to invest in modernisation, digital technologies are expected to feature prominently throughout the event.
