The launch of the transport logistic fair in Munich has officially started, and RAILTARGET's editorial team is bringing you all the latest information online.

The International Transport and Logistics Fair in Munich (Internationale Fachmesse für Logistik, Mobilität, IT und Supply Chain Management) was opened by Federal Minister for Transport and Digitalisation Volker Wissing. In his speech, he addressed the priority issue of German transport, the modernisation of the rail network. A major change in the approach to repairing and upgrading rail corridors and, thus, planning closures is in the pipeline. From next year, the entire corridors earmarked for modernisation will be closed to all traffic after construction preparation. The repair and modernisation, including digitisation and ETCS security, will take place within five months.

He also announced the extension and reform of the toll system in Germany as part of the creation of new financial resources for financing rail infrastructure: tolls will be extended to vans over 3.5 t. Registered craftsmen's cars will be exempted. The toll system will be overhauled overall, with CO2 emissions as the main criterion.
