RAILTARGET presents you with an exclusive interview with the Legal Counsel of VPI, Karl Heinz-Fehr. What is the company preparing for the next year, and what do they think about today’s tendencies in the railway sector?
- How do you evaluate today's conference and which topics were the most important?
I think we have a very interesting session today, and a lot of important topics have been raised. For sure, we are talking about a lot of things. For us, it's the wagon keepers, digitalization is a very important topic, so we are working on the Digital Automatic Coupling. But as well the other topics which were raised. Infrastructure topics are important for the whole sector. And for me, the most important is the cooperation of all the participants taking place here.
- What news is VPI preparing for next year?
We want to prepare, or we consider a project where we prepare a training car so that we can train all the participants on what is new in the rail cars and what's important. So this will be our focus plan.
- What is your opinion on the digitalization and modernization of the railways, for example, the DAC project?
We, for sure, are fully committed to this project. If we want to go in the direction of GreenDeal, reducing the CO2 emissions, the modal shift, I think rail is the choice of transport. And for that, we need this project, we need to bring more capacity on the rail, and the DAC is one part of it. It's needed to become more effective in the future.
