So many new technologies, personalities, and leading companies in the transport sector rarely come together in one place — that is what InnoTrans 2022 was all about. We learned a lot of exciting information about the current problems and challenges of the railway sector. Today, we are presenting a general overview of the most prominent event of the transport sector in 2022.

The main topic was undoubtedly the digitalization of the railway, which permeated the entire fair right from the opening ceremony. Top representatives from transport operators, and national and EU representatives agreed that digitalization is a challenge, but it can help the railway significantly. Another big theme, which was not just about rail, was ecology and alternative propulsion. It was clear that the transport sector is moving forward in these areas.

RAILTARGET's editorial team was lucky to visit hundreds of booths and dozens of events in the vast Messe Berlin complex, and we were thrilled to have met top managers of the railway sector and discussed different agendas. Philipp Brunner, Executive Vice President at Stadler, talked about the company's biggest achievements this year and shared some details about their new hydrogen train, Greg L. Blocker, Vice President at TransCore, shared his stance on the importance of such events in the post-Covid era, and Irina Stupachenko, a representative of the Communications Department at KLW Wheelco S.A., told us about the agendas with which the company arrived at the fair, the unique design of their wheelsets in support of Ukraine, and KLW's products. We also had a chance to interview Roger Oide, Head of the Sales Department at Eurailscout, Martin Joch, Managing Director at PJM, Gert Schäfer, Sales Director at Rail Adventure, and Jan Röhl, CEO of Kruch Railway Innovations.

We are looking forward to the tremendous events in the railway sector 2023 is about to bring. Be sure we will not miss SEE Mobility, TRAKO, Transport Logistic or EuroAsia Rail and come back with exclusive on-spot articles and interviews. Until then, stay tuned and Happy New Year!
